TAL/TRAC Card

The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC)

When residents of municipalities that are members of Yellowhead Regional Library apply for a library card at their local public library, they receive the TAL/TRAC card. This library card gives patrons access to the collections of over 150 TRAC libraries.

TRAC is a partnership of four regional library systems and their member libraries: Marigold Library System, Northern Lights Library System, Peace Library System, and Yellowhead Regional Library.  The four system headquarters plus more than 150 member public libraries operate a library automation system.  Public library patrons of TRAC libraries have access to over two million items in the TRAC database through the TRAC public access catalogue TRACpac.

Patrons with a TAL/TRAC Card may also borrow books from over 300 other libraries around the province without an additional fee through a program coordinated by The Alberta Library.

For more TAL/TRAC supplies including plastic sleeves, cards and patron barcodes, YRL member public libraries should contact yrlsupply@yrl.ab.ca.

The Alberta Library (TAL)

The Alberta Library (TAL) is a province-wide library consortium that works collaboratively with its members to promote universal, barrier-free access to the materials and resources in Alberta’s diverse libraries.  TAL’s membership includes public, university, college, technical institute, and special libraries.  Examples of TAL services include the TAL Card program, database licensing, and the TAL Online Catalogue.

In order to best serve Alberta library patrons, please ensure you are familiar with TAL lending policies.
