Websites For Libraries (WSFL)

The Websites for Libraries (WSFL) project commenced in 2008 and gave all YRL the opportunity to have a virtual presence, facilitating access to information for rural and urban library patrons.

In 2010, the project was revisited and revamped.  YRL hired Hybrid Forge to develop a new multi-library websites platform using Drupal, an open source content management system.  Hybrid Forge had previously worked with TRAC on the redesign of the TRAC logo and portal page, as well as the TRACpac iPhone app, and with YRL for the YourLibrary iPad app.  The new platform offered more functionality than its predecessor, allowing staff at YRL headquarters to "push out" important information or fun features to many libraries at one time.

These new websites also offer an incredibly rich user experience.  Library users can now log in to the library website and immediately see their account - what books they have out, what's coming due, what fines they have.  Moreover, if one has enabled a permanent reading list, they can instantly retrieve a list of ten recommended titles using the readers' advisory services of NoveList - all without leaving the library's website!
