Each calendar year member libraries receive a library materials budget called the allotment which is administered from Yellowhead. The allotment for school libraries is based on school enrolment. The allotment for public libraries is based on the population of the municipality (i.e. village, town or city).
The library materials purchased with the allotment are the property of the library which ordered them. YRL collections, such as reference remain the property of YRL.
Public Libraries Allotment: $.50 per capita
School Libraries Allotment: $1.00 per student
Cost (for Members) Allotment: Dollar for Dollar (less GST)
YRL reserves the right to limit the amount of over-commitment for any given library.
As of January 2010, YRL will reimburse member public libraries for outside library materials purchased.
This program allows member public libraries to submit the receipt(s) for library materials purchased outside of YRL and receive reimbursement for the cost of those materials. The funds for the reimbursement are deducted from the member libraries allotment balance.
Reimbursement will only occur when there are available funds in the allotment account.
To receive reimbursement, the member public library must submit a copy of the receipt along with a completed
YRL form for reimbursement.
NOTE: Complete instructions are available on the form as well as a list of library materials that are suitable for reimbursement.
