Services: E-Resource Services

E-Resource News

The Alberta Library (TAL) licenses a group of e-resources on behalf of its members in a service called Subscriptions Alberta. The 19 comprehensive e-resources included in Subscriptions Alberta Core offer a wealth of reliable, credible information to library users across Alberta. A valid library card from a YRL member public library is required. Click here to get started.

Yellowhead Regional Library (YRL) has participated in Subscriptions Alberta on behalf of our member municipalities and their public libraries since its inception in 2002.  YRL has also taken advantage of the opportunity to subscribe to additional e-resources offered by TAL, ones that are not part of the Subscriptions Alberta Core.

In 2007 YRL also subscribed to Novelist, a reader’s advisory e-resource.  Although, not part of the Core, APLEN has subsidized Novelist to the same level as the e-resources in the Core.  YRL will continue to subscribe to Novelist on your behalf in 2008.

In 2008 the Subscription’s Alberta Core will have the following e-resources added to it:

Yellowhead Regional Library will subscribe to the following two e-resources for the first time in 2008.  APLEN is subsidizing these e-resources at the same rate that is provided for the Core e-resources.

What is an e-resource?

An e-resource is information placed in an electronic filing system, or database, that can be searched using a computer.  It consists of articles or references from numerous magazines, journals, newspapers or reference books which have been digitally scanned and stored.

You can look for information that has been stored in a database by typing the author, title, subject, keyword, or other search term into a search box.
