Toolkit: CAP - 2008/2009
Order Deadline January 31
All eligible sites can claim $1351.20 towards purchases this year. Orders must be complete by January 31, 2009. Guidelines for what purchases are considered eligible expenses as listed in TAL’s contract with Industry Canada for the CAP program are as follows:
- purchases of related new and used hardware, software and services
- equipment adaptation and upgrades
- network operations
- public access site and equipment rental and expenses
- contract fees for services
A rule of thumb is that the expense will be eligible if it supports computers the public can use to access the internet.
Here are some items that are NOT eligible:
- staff equipment - computers, receipt printers, etc.
- Self-check machines
- Wiis or other game systems or games
TAL has provided a list of eligible items that have been priced for bulk purchase. If you choose to purchase items from this list, TAL will pay for those items up to $1351.20 (this price includes taxes and any shipping costs). You may overspend, but you will be billed by TAL immediately for the difference. If you choose to purchase items not on the list, you will be expected to front the cost until Industry Canada reimburses TAL, who will then send you a cheque for no more than $1351.20. You are also responsible for ensuring that your items are eligible.
